Dede's Mousey Mousey Bread on Ice-Cream Stick

I am basically a strawberry jam & butter-on-Gardenia bread person. But a little bakery on the basement floor of Gurney Plaza has caught my family's attention. Dede's Bakery is like a Disneyland food counter that sings Old MacDonald Had A Farm from day till night. Yes, that childhood melody plays on and on the minute you enter the shop !

Blueberry tarts and madeleines look droolicious but my kids have fallen for these bread on ice-cream sticks. It is so much fun to pretend you are eating ice-cream when you are really not. The layered doughs are coated with my kids' favourite cream flavours - chocolate and strawberry. Each stick costs RM2.20 and I have to put 6 on my tray. Buy 5 Free 1 !

The Mousey Mousey box is folded to look like a block of cheese and the picture of a little blue rat makes takeaway all the more fun. On the side of the box, some marketing genius has created this clever tagline - " We bake happiness ". With a bun costing as much as a whole Gardenia loaf, happiness is perhaps to be savoured once in a while .....

I have to say, though it's cute, the price is very very expensive.

Very. I buy Gardenia every other day because its vendor charges me RM2 instead of RM2.10. And a loaf can feed the whole family for breakfast!

Do you know the Gardenia slices are thinner and somehow taste less creamier on the economy pack ? So I always buy the regular loaf.
